First thing first, you need to know that I am doing on the younger version of Lane, where she first met Rose's father. There are only a few character traits that I found as there is very little information on Lane before she got married 👰 to Paul Edelstein, Rose's father 👨
The first thing that I noticed about young Lane is that she is very creative. Just because she and her roommate couldn't afford to travel, that didn't stop them from trying out different cuisines from around the world🌍. This is based on the sentence "....they often had big dinner parties of cuisines fom around the world, Moroccan feasts and Italian banquets..." on page 96 (new version).
For the dinner parties, Lane was in charged to supply the seating. She'd been spending her Saturdays scouting San Francisco and Oakland and Berkeley for more footstools, at the Ashby Flea Market and a every open garage. Based on Lane's action, we could see that she is very determined to find the footstools.
Next, Lane is described as beautiful. She let her hair loose, down to her waist and Lane's friend described Lane as having resembled a mermaid with legs. With a sheerness to her skin that people want to shield 😍 Based on the description, this is how I imagined Lane looks like
Lastly, I would say that Rose's mother is a positive person. She would look for signs all the time🔍. If a person would be curt to her, she would view it as a sign that she should be nicer to strangers. Joseph would give her an unexpected smile and she'd retrace all her actions to see why she deserved it. 😇
